I found something really weird today, and picked up almost 5 MPG according to the MFD. I have the heavy wheels and tires, so I don't get the stellar mileage that others get. Anyway, I have been setting the CC and averaging right at 40 on the highway. Today, I drove with no CC. When I got up to speed, I would very slowly lift off the gas peadal until the car lost 1-2 MPH, then gently get the speed back. I was shocked at how much I could lift off the gas and maintain the speed. As a result of doing this, I averaged almost 45 MPG. That is really freaky. I thought that the CC had to be the ticket, and it's not, (at least in my car). Anybody else experience this? BTW, I have right at 1K miles on the car. I am looking forward to the 5K mark, to see if it gets better.

In fact, it is almost exactly as we were taught back in 1965 driver's ed for when cresting hills. Get to speed, back off a bit and then 'pulse' it back up a little.. It takes some practice and obviously o=you have to adjust it for traffic conditions for safety.
I'm going to show my wife this post. I have yet to see a car that is more efficient on cruise control than a decent driver.
