So now movies in Russia will have a standard similar to the Hays Code, but frankly will the people give a ####? Swearing off bad language: Russia bans cussing in films, books, music - CNN.com
Somehow I'm always reminded of those goofy discussions about time travel and bumping off Hitler when I think of Putin....
lol, but Putin gets a lot of bad press. Some of it is justified, but even a fool knows that Russia is very touchy about 'the west' on its borders. So the west tried pushing Nato and the EU right into Ukraine. Why? Why do we want a basket case country like Ukraine in the EU? We don't. The West we teasing Russia and now they've bitten back. Remember when Russia did the same trick with a little place called Cuba back in the 60's? You didn't like it then. We poked a stick in the hornets nest and now we're gonna get stung.
Americans ain't vulgar, we're just genuinely "truthful"...in a crude, blunt, redneck kind of fashion.
Reminds me of the movie Demolition Man where demerit tickets would get printed out when you swore. Found this clip of it: . Interesting... thanks for the making the connection. I'd heard about that group on/off for ages and saw the story at Pussy Riot punk band remains defiant of Putin's Russia - 60 Minutes Videos - CBS News when it originally aired on 60 Minutes. They were interviewed by Charlie Rose, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet (still on my TiVo).
Have you ever been to Singapore? I always thought that whoever directed Demolition Man based San Angeles on Singapore.
No, not yet. Hahaha. I've heard about some of their laws about chewing gum, fines for not flushing the toilet, etc. I loved the quote "We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence!"
I'm not generally a fan of Sylvester Stallone or Wesley Snipes, but I did like that film. Although I think I might not have liked it in the way the director intended - I liked San Angeles.
I can see that as a lot of the motivation - silence opponents. Right after 9/11, Putin was the first to call Dubya, so he would get a pass on "fighting terrorists." Remember at a press conference he hinted he would call the 9/11 terrorists things that should get him fined heavily.
