I went to dealership to have oil change and new tires, 5.5 miles one way trip, 53 MPG. Came back same way, 43 MPG. What changed: New tires, same size, supposedly LRR (continental purecontact ecoplus), but not as good as the stock and worn out Ecopias, of course. Dealer pumped the tires to 36 PSI, I had 44/42 PSI. New oil, 0W20 according to the receipt. The HV was only 3 bars, they "idled" it a lot.
Actually I thought the OP was sharing how anytime you take a Prius into a Toyota shop, regardless of the mileage going in, the car will be returned with the mileage wiped out. I don't think the service staff even notices it. Bob Wilson
After you break in those new tires your mileage should normalize. I am curious how those tires compare to the stock ecopias. Is there more or less road noise?
Lots of idling, plus maybe a leadfoot test drive will do it. Plus the tires, plus the pressure, plus...
Please keep us updated on the Continental Eco-Pure tires, if things level out, as G/F will need a set of tires by late fall. We have monsoon season in Jan. and Feb., these would be good here.. thanks
