    :) I can't sleep!!!!!

Yesterday I decided I really could live without the moonroof and so, just on a lark, I called the salesman I had been working with. I said, "Never mind the moonroof. Let me know when you have a Prius IV in Blizzard Pearl with a navigation system."

There was a slight pause, then he said, "I've got one on the lot right now." We negotiated a deal right there on the phone and twenty minutes later my wife and I drove to the dealership and picked up our new car.

The salesman said,"Did you notice my reaction when you called?"

    I said yes. He explained.

"We just got that car in. One of our salesman was negotiating with some people who wanted to buy it, but the deal fell through at the last minute. When you called and said "Do you have a Prius in Blizzard Pearl with a navigation system" my jaw dropped.

Lucky for me the other folks balked. I've got twelve thousand pages of manuals to read and I'm so excited. Wish I could sleep!!!

    Pictures to follow.

Great timing! Congratulations! Fold down the back seats, grab some pillows and stretch out for a nap in the back! When you wake up, you'll quickly know it wasn't only a dream!

Congrats!! I couldn't sleep the first night I got my car either.

    Here's my story...

I'd been car shopping for about 4 weeks. Starting with the Highlander Hybrid, then on to the Honda CR-V, RAV-4, Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape Hybrid, and on and on. I test drove a Toyota Matrix, and when I went to park it I noticed it was right next to a Prius. I noticed that the Prius trunk area looked just as big as the Matrix, and decided to test drive the Prius.

On a side note...I've wanted a Prius for 5 years, but never thought they would be roomy enough...

Anyway, I drove the Prius, which was a 2008, had nav and backup camera, not sure which model. Loved it!

I called and told my husband about it, and asked for him to stop by the dealer on the way home from work to check it out. He did, and then the dealer tried to talk him into a 2009. Told him that we could get on a waiting list for the 2010, but there were already 15 people on the list.

In the mean time, I had been looking at Carmax online, and saw that they had 2-2010's on the lot. I e-mailed them to see what features were on the Sandy Beach (the other was the blue, which I didn't like), and how much it would cost OTD.

The lady called me back with all of the information in short order. I was a bit excited, but figured we'd just go with the 2008. For kicks I decided to build my own Prius on the Toyota website, and the price at Carmax was $109 under MSRP.

Talking to my husband again about the car, I told him that the Prius was the car that I wanted to get and he agreed that was fine. When I told him the price of the 2010 vs. the 2008 (they wanted $21999 for the '08), he said, "Well then you might as well get the 2010!"

I about fainted! Called Carmax, told them to put it aside, drove up there, test drove it, and brought it home!!

I started the day thinking I'd never get a car anytime soon, and that night drove home a spankin' new Prius. And I could NOT sleep that night. The next day I just wanted to drive around for fun, but thought that kind of defeated the purpose of saving gas. LOL

Sorry for the book. Enjoy your new car!!

    :D

I am driving my husband nuts because I don't know if I can wait the "two months" for the car I put in a request for. Since the car is not available in our region, who knows how long it could actually take. Especially since we are being specific about a color.

I keep drawing up all these different scenarios for him such as either buying out of state or getting the IV with NAV. He just wants to wait it out. But I am so impatient, I just want to get it done and over with and be in our new car.

DMVP, Great story. They say timing is everything and your timing was excellent. I'm sure you will really enjoy the 2010. -- TK

Shankyyy, I paid $28,794. I traded in my 2005 BMW for $15,000, so the new car cost me $13,794. Before taxes.

Forgot the second part of your question....

It's a Prius IV with a navigation system. No other options.

This is what I do when I can't sleep at 4AM!

By the way, congrats on the new Prius in the best colour there is!
