    Hey guys,
My wife and I are gearing up for a nationwide roadtrip (63 days). I wanted to get the LockPick for the DVD option while we were driving (mostly for her and then for nights that we are camping), but the temptation to watch a movie while I am driving would be too great. So I was thinking about going with something like the link below, but what do you guys think- is this just too tacky and more than likely just too crappy?
7 INCH SUNVISOR TFT LCD CAR MONITOR + DVD PLAYER, GRAY:eBay Motors (item 150352706521 end time Jun-20-09 17:43:40 PDT)

The fact it's specifically set for the passenger and would be a perfect for your passenger with some earbuds, or a headset. The driver would have a hard time viewing it, so that's a safety plus!! I think this could be a winner!!!

yeah to be honest i kinda like it... like it alot... just don't want to look like a 16 year old kid or something i guess- then again who cares...
the main thing i want to know is if there is a way to run it to the aux input bc i hate fm transmitters... they never work

The sunvisor mounted monitors are the safest way to allow someone in the car to view a monvie without distracting the driver. I don't see it as tacky at all. It is a good choice. Better than the Lockpick.

I can't speak for the dvd skipping or anything, but I don't see why you can buy a double headphone jack :(Gold-plated dual headphone adapter | Cable Adapters | TheSource.ca)
Thats the wrong size but you get the point. You only need that if you plan on using the aux in for 2 items as I do.
If you ran a headphone extension cable to the aux and to the screen it would work fine.
If the screen has a rca jack, then you'd need one of these to convert it:
    Evolution Stereo Y Cable | RCA Audio/Video | TheSource.ca

These links are just examples...it's late and I can't find the ones I'm looking for.

I'm looking at getting sunvisors with built in speakers, however you'd still need a dvd player for them.
I'm going with a half din size to go under the stereo.

If you haven't done your installation before me I'll let you now how it's gone.

No problem, I've ordered both the half din dvd player now and the 2 screens. So maybe in about 2 weeks I should have it in.
I'll post back here and show you...maybe I'll make a video of it all finished.

A nice write up with pics or a video would be very helpful. I think you would be the first on the forums to do this mod. :)

How is the quality of the hinge? This is a project that I have considered doing in another car (and after your write-up am now considering for the Prius). I hesitated because I was concerned that the weight of the monitor+speaker+whatever else is in there would stress the hinge to the point of the sunvisors no longer staying in position.

    BTW, good job!
