A dealership in my area is offerring a 2012 Prius Three for $26,400-but they said if it was purchased this month, they would take $2,000 off. This is before tax and other fees. Does this seem like a good deal? Do you think it's likely I could get another $1-2,000 off, or is this a good offer? I'm in no hurry to purchase and could wait a few months if needed. Thanks!
I would check out Truecar.com and other sites that allow you to see new car prices that have actually been paid in your area. Carwoo.com is another site I've seen mentioned that might be useful to you. What I've personally been doing, Ardent, is I signed up on Autotrader.com, created saved searches, and it emails me results every day when new cars match my criteria. This has allowed me to see what's going on locally for months now. Your geographic region will affect pricing due to dsupply and demand, as well as regional Toyota discounts. That being said, off the top of my head, that seems a bit high. I believe I've seen '12 III's for more like 22k-23k in Louisville, KY. But good luck! Typically, winter will be a better time to purchase a hybrid as gas prices are lower (thus demand is lower).
