I noticed a thread on a Prius Yahoo group where somebody said he/she could leave the car running and lock it using the key in the SmartKey fob, so that the A/C kept the cabin cool. Is there a way of doing this using the SmartKey? Does the car automatically shut down if you lock the doors by either using the lock button on the fob or press the black button on the door?
I think the only way to do it is to use the mechanical key (small key in the fob). I don't think you can lock the car any other way with the power on (door button or fob). If you try, it will just beep at you.
and if you don't want to read down to #34... Leave the car running. Get out of the car Use the mechanical (metal) key to lock the door. Keep in mind that the mechanical key is the only way you can get back in - SKS won't unlock in this situation. I DO so wish that the remote or door handle buttons would lock/unlock the door from the outside. It would be ever so much simpler. Terry
