We need to all tweet to Toyota and hope they will have a response.

most complaints are about interface quality, or dated roads. not sure i've read about winding up on the wrong side of town.

And to add insult to injury, you can update Here maps through their site for other vehicle manufacturers. May have to do with the Entune integration included in Toyota's updates.

Here isn't so great as us DJI quadcopter enthusiasts can attest to.

I've owned 4 Prius's and the navigation system in all of them have been crap. In the first place, when the car is delivered, the maps are already 2 or so years out of date. My May 2016 Prius was unaware of the Costco that had opened in 2015.

I'll just chime in to say how much I like the NAV in my Gen 4. Upon entering a destination, the map shows an overview of the entire proposed route, including starting and ending points, often showing alternate routing, which should allow one to construct a visual image of the planned trip. When there are ambiguous addresses, such as street names with directional modifiers (N, S or E, W) or variants, such as Ct, Wy, Rd, St, etc. it alerts and lets you select the correct one. Of course, there's no substitute for "pre-flight" planning when going somewhere unfamiliar. So a second opinion (Google, Apple) beforehand will help ensure a stress free trip.

I preferred how my Garmin worked in general. On the highway, it would show you the next exit or toll plaza in the upper banner even when you didn't have a route engaged. Adding a new waypoint to the route was a bit of a pain though. I like how the Entune navigation would ask if you wanted to replace the existing endpoint (which you may have forgotten was still active) or add your new destination to the route.

But all that isn't too useful if the data is out of date.
