in the uk the new Prius has not been released and rumors are end of July/august. The car will be purchased as a company car which is all ready over due. Have been told i can wait until July but that does not include the car ordering time. Is it really worth the wait for the new gen 3 prius over the gen2? I had the current model on a test drive for a week and loved it. Any help with making my decision would be great.
    Cheers Guys

I think it is worth the wait. The Gen III is a quantum leap above the Gen II which is already a great car. This is especially the case if you drive any distance in your car.

It is worth the wait if you need a car. I think people trading in late model gen 2 Prius are losing their initial investments when the buy the 2010. The way I look at it is you are really not waiting for any thing. Most car makers release the new model year in the fall. Toyota is rushing small quantities of the Prius now because of the Honda Insight early release. If the Insight didn't exist we all wait until september. By this fall the dealers will have loads of 2010's with the package and color you want. Just the fact that any 2010 car is available in May 2009 is a treat. It is more like pre-sale for the enthusiasts. Now if gas prices rise up to $4 gallon, quantities will be limited and the dealers will be jumping for joy.

I need a car, so I also had a decision. I just knew that i would regret getting an 09 even though I would pay significantly less than the 2010 for MSRP. Of course, here in the states our wait will probably be 1-2 months less.

I agree. If you are shopping for a Prius the extra money for the 2010 is definitely worth it. The 2009 markdowns are not that good and won't sway many people waiting for the 2010.
