FYI - Ira Toyota of Danvers is hosting the 2010 Toyota Prius Launch Party tomorrow (Thursday, August 20) from 530-830pm at 161 Andover Street in Danvers, MA.

I called the dealership to get the details so I could post them for anyone interested in attending (I'm trying to get out of work an hour early to catch the last hour of the Launch Party).

    * Test Drives are available tomorrow and they are not demos...all 2010's on the lot are available for purchase and are not spoken for with deposits (you could actually buy one today if you wanted to).
    * The majority of their current anticipated stock is in place which is probably not 100% accurate as the person I spoke with said they only have 7 Gen III's on the lot at this time (doubtful they would only be allocated for that limited number).
    * The current cars on the lot right now are:
    2 Prius II Black
    1 Prius III Ribbon Blue
    2 Prius III Winter Gray
    1 Prius IV Silver Metallic
    1 Prius IV Winter Gray
    * Also at the event will be the typical refreshments

On their website they list 6 Gen III's that do not necessarily match what the dealer told me was on the lot. He told me some have NAV but none have Solar.

Ira Toyota of Danvers in Boston, Lawrence, Lynnfield, Beverly, Danvers Massachusetts, offering New and Used Toyotas, a Used Toyota Dealer and a Used Toyota Dealership offer Cars, Trucks and SUVs

Good luck if you attend...hope all us Priuschatters get what we want!

Good dealership. I bought 3 cars from them in the past decade, a corolla (my dad's car), a sienna (for the family), and a 2009 Metallic Grey Prius (for me :) )

For this "launch party", are there going to be any freebies? Free food? Or just test drives. I might go regardless, since I've yet to get behind the wheel of a 2010.

I have also purchased 2 cars from them over the last few years and I've always received good service.

I'm not sure about freebies but I would expect the standard refreshments including snacks and drinks. Maybe they have something cool like key chains or the like (I'd get there early to have a shot at them if they have any). Either way...still a good chance to spend some time in a 2010 and see what it has to offer. I was in one last week and was very impressed!

I went to the Ira Toyota launch party in Danvers, MA tonight. I didn't get there until 745pm and it officially ended at 830pm. They had the basic chips/salsa and water/soda refreshments and had a DJ there too. A greeting table had the 2010 promo booklet and a drawing for free 5k service. As for giveaways they had some Prius stickers and I scored a few of those (maybe they had other things earlier).

There were quite a few people looking at the floor model (as many as a dozen while I was there) but only a couple available salespeople (it was busy...maybe because C4C ending on Monday was announced today). I saw a few people head outside to test drive a Sandy Beach 2010.

I walked around the lot and noticed 8 sold 2010 Prius, 1 Sandy Beach unsold and 1 Blizzard Pearl unsold (which was the floor model). I was surprised to see that 2 of the 8 sold had the solar package...didn't expect 2 of 10 on the lot to be solar as I was told on Tuesday that no solar would be on the lot.

Yup, I got there at 6. Got some stickers, the 2010 brochure, a neat pen made of wood and recycled materials, signed up for the drawing. I finally got to get a closer look at the 2010, sat in it, and later took it for a test drive. Overall impression isn't different from everyone else's. In short, its impressively refined over the gen2.

Makes me wonder if I should have held off on my 2009 purchase and just waited... 7 months; naah I couldn't wait that long, LOL.

Still, I'm a Gen2 owner, so I'm biased. I can see how some people might be put off by the center console; I am, but its not enough to deter me from a purchase if I was in the market for a car. The engine seemed louder, but at the same time, the engine coming on and off was more subtle. The fact that you can't start the car on EV mode, and EV mode dropping out at 22mph was really my own real disappointment.

Thanks again Matt for the heads up. At least now when I comment on 2010 threads, I know what ppl are talking about and I can say that I actually drove one for a change. :-p

Thanks for reporting back on this guys!! I wanted to try to make it - only because they will likely be my servicing dealer. Sorry I missed it!

Cool score on the wooden recycled pen...guess that's what you get for showing up early!

I was also impressed with the Gen III vs. my Gen II. It is an entirely different car in my opinion...obviously for the better. Much more stable and it handles great!

I bought my Gen II in late March so it would have been only a few months wait for me. I would prefer the Gen III I think but it would have been tough to wait the several months. Maybe down the road I'll pick up a Gen IV!
