So now that I have my 2012 Prius (actually pickup on Monday.) I'm thinking which is best for listening to music thru the P's USB connection? Is an iPod or a portable hard drive. Whats the general consensus?

I haven't seen any vids about this on youtube except for the V, which is probably different.

I have been using both.but since the audio system seems to work the same with either, the flash memory thumb drive makes more sense to me. the Ipod is expensive, more of a theft target, and contains a battery with a finite life. I also found myself wanting to use my Ipod outside of the car,and of course i had left it behind !!

Android phones should work as well as an iPhone/iPod. You didn't mention Entune which is on the new Priuses. here's an Entune demo in a Prius Plug-In.

I've been using a 32gig flash drive loaded about 2/3's full. It works perfectly: instant access when I power up (some said to expect up to a several minute delay while it loads/catalogs, but that didn't prove to the be case), play by artist, title or genre, and the album covers displayed. Random play across the entire drive or by album. I don't think it could work any better than it does!
