Since the Ipod shuffle has no dock connector, just USB and headphone jack, what's the best way to connect it to a 2005 package 1 Prius (AM/FM single CD)? Is there a way to connect the headphone jack to something on the back of the headunit, or am I stuck with an FM transmitter. Thanks.

The DICE Ipod unit is being sold in the PriusChat store. It has an Auxiliary port that you can plug the shuffle into.

It will charge the shuffle and transmit the signal on an FM frequency. FM transmitters are subject to a lot of interference but the list price is $50.00. I think more inline with what you are looking to spend. If you need to add a line-in to your Prius the DICE unit is a geat deal, espically if you think you might get an iPod with a doc connector some day. If you plan on using a charger for the shuffle with the DICE you might find there is some interference and have to add a ground loop isolator. The 2006 Prius and the original VAIS AIC-100i seem to suffer from the same problem so it's no way just a DICE issue. All of the current VAIS Tech interfaces includes a ground loop isolator, but are more expensive. To add a line-in I suggest getting an Aux-Box or Neo-Aux. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pacauxbox.html The Aux-Box and the iPod2Car like it will not allow for anything else to be connected to the radio like satellite radio. It emulates a CD Changer so it won't work with a CD Changer. I tried the USASpec interface with my 05 Prius and it didn't work.
If you have the aux input, you can use this: http://priuschat.com/index.php?s=&showtopi...ndpost&p=278076 If not, you will need one of the more expensive solutions that permits you to connect - or am FM transmitter, which are inexpensive. Rock on,
