I searched the GIII forum and did not find anything about this.

Today I received a letter* from Toyota, subject: "Warranty Enhancement Notification - ZE3". The letter provides notification that the new vehicle limited warranty of the Inverter Intelligent Power Module (IPM) is extended for 15 years, with no mileage limitation, from the date of first use, as long as Safety Recall EOE was performed (if applicable).

The letter also said that reimbursement would be made for previously paid repairs to the IPM.

    Thank you Toyota!

*See Post #6 below for a copy of the letter.

Another member posted on another thread that he had just received the letter. He has a 2012. The fact that you have a 2010 verifies that the letter should be going to all Gen 3 owners. That is great news!

Being my first Toyota vehicle, I have just gained a new respect for Toyota. I had my doubts that they would stand behind the Inverter if it were to fail outside of the original 100k mile warranty period.

I searched the Toyota Owner's website and could not find any information on this Warranty Enhancement letter.

Now I wonder if Grumpy will see this... He had a failed inverter, interesting to see if Toyota stands by 15 years outside of the US

The no mileage limit is the real deal here. I would think in 15 years, some can rack up 400k miles and it would still be covered, but only if it's the Inverter Intelligent Power Module (IPM). Whatever the heck that is.

And I wonder if Grumpy will send a letter of apology to Toyota for his rubbish posts on this forum, then delete the trash and rub his nose in the mud until he gets a clue.

Toyota stands behind their products. Only Tesla might be better.

Are you suggesting that he should have known when his inverter failed that Toyota would eventually extend the warranty?

    Hardly.

I was referring to his conspiracy theories that a minimal change to new car warranty sales in the UK was evidence of a great cover-up and vast fleet failure of inverters that Toyota was running away from.

So we all get 15 years of warranty as long as we do the recall. Nice

I have done the recall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for my 2013 Prius Luxury 1.8 early this year. Today is exactly 1 year of usage when first bought new clocking a mileage of 30, 090km.

I am wondering whether such IPM coverage extend to outside US..ie Asia Pacific namely Malaysia.

We've lost no mpg, post recall. But I agree: a lot of owners are reporting marked losses. This seems to point to a flawed update software.

I'm wondering too, is it just the 'States getting this. I want everything I've got coming to me. :ROFLMAO:

I firmly believe it's all about driving style, road contour and many other factors. Would not be able to get 860km @40liters. It now linggers around 780km. Above all..would not be bother by now to glide most of the time..

You mean that more aggressive driving style has more mpg impact, post update?

It's been stated by Toyota that it's hard acceleration that's hard on the inverter. So maybe something along those lines is happening. I'm not sure though:

There was one guy here, took a real hit post update, went back in, they redid it, and his mpg went back up.

OTOH, maybe he just had a bad tankful.

yes, but i'm just theorizing. it is confusing and frustrating for those affected. and it's not scientific, mostly, people 'feel' that their mpg's have dropped.
