Did I miss a meeting ??? My Base model PIP does NOT have a Set button for the tire pressure warning system. WHAT !!! It is NOT below and to the right or left of the Steering Wheel. I haven't noticed anyone mention it here for the PIP. The FEATURES page for the PIP lists the Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) as Standard for the Base and Advanced models.
Nope, not there. You also have a Base model. If you have one, take a photo of yours, also showing the steering wheel.
The button is to the right of the OBD port. Look underneath the dashboard on the driver side. It is right after the knee airbag. Right above the brake pedal.
When you say 'reset'. What do it reset and where do you read the results? Gotta admit I havn't read the manual. Can't get past the Caution notes, they scare the hell outa me. Only had the vehicle for 2 months and got 1900 miles on it. Love it.
There are pressure sensors in each tire. When you reset the system, it sets the current tire pressure as the "baseline," so if pressure falls below that amount, it warns you. Whenever you add air, you should reset it. You want to be warmed of pressure loss, not that the pressure dropped below X psi.
Rebound, There is a blank cover for a device on the right and 2 blank covers on the left, on either side of the gas door button. But no Tire Reset button. Did you find your button? If you did, take a photo.
OMG. Thanks Rebound. WHY the hell did they put it UNDER there. I had to put my head BELOW the seat to see it. CRAZY. I want to speak to the engineer that approved that location. Is the Tire Pressure Set button in this location for the Advanced model too? WOW.
But why take up valuable dash real estate for something that you will use very seldom? It wasn't such a bad placement IMHO...
What I think is that most owners don't read the manuals, and the TPMS Reset isn't a button that should be pressed at just any old time. Therefore, it's placed in a location accessible for mechanics and for those owners who will take the effort to use it correctly.
