Hey everyone at prius chat I have my 2014 prius three, keyless entry with no nav and no jbl system and subs spliced by clips to the original radio. My amp is currently setup to detect audio but it's not always reliable. On to details! I'm looking for a toggle switch or something similar to fit exactly where the other empty slots by where the dimmer is at. I actually want to find an exact fit switch that goes my sub system that actually controls the remote on my amplifier with a small power source. I would prefer to not make any holes, just only remove the cover then later on remove the switch when I do decide to sell this car way later in the future. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. ~ CapnBio
Our's has a headlight washer switch there. I can't remember the last time I used it, but IIRC it's a momentary switch, ie: only closes the circuit as long as you're depressing it. Still, it's the right shape, and maybe if it's inexpensive, worth getting one, see if you can cobble it to be an on/off switch? Maybe too someone else will chime in, with other switches that go in that area, more suited.
That would be a rather expensive switch lol I'd wait to see if someone chimes in and see what they say ~ CapnBio
This one fits perfectly: Universal LED DRL Daytime running light special SWITCH control Fits TOYOTA LEXUS | eBay
The switches in this collection are the proper fit. You get a large selection of possible colors and markings, but not the chance to supply your own. (rockerswitchpros has a nice service where you supply your own graphic to go on the switch, but they only do the older, larger Carling Contura size, that would fit in a Prius Gen 1.) These switches are only 3 amp rated (again, unlike the old Carlings), so if your load is heavier than that, you'll also want a relay. -Chap
These switches are all standard sized in the auto industry. Amazon is full of them. I bought one a few weeks ago for a secondary horn I purchased:
That's a Carling style. It would fit in a Gen 1, but it won't help the original poster here, who has a Gen 3. I posted a link in #6 to a source of switches with the dimensions used in Gen 3. -Chap
