"WASHINGTON - Accused of dragging his feet on global warming, President Bush on Thursday proposed that by 2008 the countries that emit the most greenhouse gases come up with long-term goals to curb emissions." "Bush called for the first in a series of meetings to begin this fall, bringing together countries identified as major emitters. The list would include the United States, China, India and major European countries. After setting a goal to reduce emissions, the nations would be free to develop their own strategies to meet the target." "Bush's proposal is separate from U.N.-brokered climate talks already set for December in Bali, Indonesia." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18959819/from/RS.1/
When I first heard this on the news, I was shocked. This is the dude who refused to sign the Kyoto Protocol from day one in office. His vice president said 'Conservation won't help the energy problem'. NOW he's saying we're addicted to oil and need to do something about climate change????? Perhaps I'm fed up with the lies, arrogance and ignorance of this administration but, I don't think he understands one thing about the issue and is just using empty promises to try to raise his approval rating and appease the new congress to get what he wants - more war  Lovely first post for me, huh? Proud owner of a 2006 Prius! Debbie
Junior is trying to appear presidential. Nearing the end of his second term in office, he is desperate to have something tangible for his legacy. Most of us know that his legacy will be a long list of failures, starting with 9/11. He can flap his gums about the environment all he wants, but trying to sound like he cares about the climate is a joke at best, a joke even his parents won't find funny.
It would serve him right if no one bothered to show up. What exactly is this supposed to accomplish other than be a photo op to try to persuade the sheeple he's done something positive in his administration to address a real problem? Does anyone need to attend this meeting to A. know they are contributing to Global Warming or B. Develop their own individual plans to address it? They already know and they can develop their own programs without attending Bush's media freak show. And by doing so they can save some emmissions on those long distance flights. "Thank you Mr. Pot...er...Bush but we have already developed a plan and it includes skipping extraneous, unjustified international flights. Unfortunately your redundant meeting falls under the category of un-needed and unjustifed."
Did he say 2008? A lot can happen between now and then to make that a far more realistic 2018. I am a registered Republican that votes! No real energy policy, no vote! Please don't make me vote for the other Clinton.

This is probably all you need to know. Pure spin from an administration with zero environmental responsibility.
