$40 for renewal fees every year for this, meh. I thought about doing it when it was announced for my mustang while I still had it, but not for a prius lol. I guess it depends on the color of your prius, not sure it'd go well with the winter gray. Maybe for black or blue.

The yellow letters wouldn't really fit the Prius that well in my opinion (even though I agree the black plate would look better). All personal opinion, but I think the $40 renewal fee for having a license plate of a different color will turn a lot of people off. I'd have no problem paying $50 for a different colored plate once.

 

This is not a vanity plate with you own lettering, just a plain license plate with random license number.

 

Does anyone know if this is cancelable after a year? Or is there a contract or something?

Looks like the Black background Yellow letters plates will go into production. I think I'm going to get this after all for my Winter Gray Metallic PiP. Now to decide on what to get for my personalized plate number...

 

These special reissued plates are issued with random numbers, you can't personalize it.

 

Umm not according to the website or the application. I already submitted mine with a personalized choice.

 

Well they must of changed in the last several months, because this was not the case when I looked at them.

 

"Q2: Does the application fee of $50 apply to either a sequential or a personalized license plate?
A: Yes. The fee is the same for either choice of plate configuration."
