ICE not turning on until battery goes drastically low

    Good day, I own a 2014 Toyota aqua, prius c in the US. I am getting a strange problem with my car. When I have the car in park the ICE turns on when the voltage on all the blocks are between 15.5 volts. But when I am in drive the ICE does not turn on until all the blocks reach below 14.5 volts and it is triggering CEL because when one of the block goes below 14.5 volts the volts just drop drastically then the CEL would turn on and the ICE would turn on. How can I adjust it so that the ICE turns on when the volts reach 15 volts? Can I do this with the techstream software. Or is the block that drop drastically in voltage needs to be changed?

    A weak block is a sign that the hybrid battery is getting tired. The remainder of the blocks are probably not far behind.

    I'm not aware of any way to alter the battery management routine, AFAIK it's all hard-coded.

    Take it as an early warning that the car is going to need a new (or at least newer) hybrid battery soon.

    Well it's probably worth having a pro assess the thing, and keep in mind if you don't want to pay to put a new battery in an old car, you can buy a used battery out of a crashed 2016 or 17. That would cost less and keep you going for a few years.

    ...and that's if the warranty is no help. as bisco says, you have an 8 year/100k mile warranty on that battery which may still be in effect, depending on your odometer.
