    :D

Not bad for just under 2,000 miles on the odometer. The warmer weather started here and at about the same time I found a station with what I believe is better gas (whether that be less Ethanol or a true 87 Octane, who knows).

Yes, that's pretty good milage you're getting as a new Prius driver. With a name like yours, I'm not surprised.

There are days when I wish I had a camera phone or a digital camera in the car. This afternoon the temp was around 45ºF and by the time I got home, there wasn't a single segment under 50. Days like today make me smile.

And Les, so do displays like yours. Keep up the good work!

By the way, I have to know where you were holding that camera to get that particular angle. Were you using some sort of "crotch-cam?"

I definitely have one of the 40 and under vehicles. I've never seen a display like this after 4400 miles. Right now the display shows 25.3 mpg average in snow and 20 degree cold. But the car is still a lot of fun to drive and mileage per gallon, when it becomes an obsession, is a weakness that detracts from the overall value of the vehicle. It's much easier to drive with the Screen Off and look at the beautiful winter scenery - and watch the road and not the monitor.

    Chuck,

You definitely need to block your grill. Might get you into the low 30's.

My Prius had been getting about 46-47 over the winter until this tank. Summer formula, maybe?

    I'm up to 51.7 today.

I had it braced against the steering wheel and used the camera's timer so it wouldn't shake during the 1/4 second or so exposure. The wide angle lens probably makes look like a shot from the crotch!

I love my crotch ... cam  Mine has the manual zipper model (better quit while I'm ahead) Today I'm on my blinking pip for 30 miles. MPG reads 60.1 !!! And the drives have been in 50 degree weather! Mileage on this tank is at 550 miles. That dang bladder shure gits shriveled up on cold day refills.

My prius has about 400 miles on it and so I took it for a drive on the outer highway loop last Friday afternoon to break it in a little. The temp was 34 F and the length of the trip from my apartment to the loop, all the way around the loop, and back to my apartment was 134 miles. My mileage for the entire loop which had a range of driving conditions from stop/go to 75mph was 50.6 mpg. I was so happy. Most of my trips are between 1 and 4 miles and the car never gets a chance to warm up in this weather so I have been getting about 36-42 mpg. If I had a camera I would have snapped a picture to complement "Les Gas"'s picture!

How do I block the grill? I actually don't even know what that means... Thanks.

    Check Tony's post here: http://priuschat.com/index.php?s=&show...st&p=364407
I found it adds about 10% to my mpg, cost about $2 (ask for copper/steel pipe insulation in a hardware store), took about ten minutes to install, your results may vary. efusco has an alternate method, but that's the expensive route requiring tie-wraps.

I'm guessing Chuck Kershner also has a short commute, in which case the engine block heater might be the feature for him. Blocking the grill helps when driving, but I think he's seeing the initial startup mileage getting the engine warm before wind over the engine block even becomes an issue. And double-check the tire inflation, of course.

On a bumper to bumper 10 hour trip from Las Vegas last President's Day, we were able to totally "yellow-out" our screen. I should have had the camera handy! :)

Looks great, and it can double for an ad for Cingular.

By any chance, do you go down I635 in the morning?

If so, maybe I've seen you.

Yes, it looks like your run was above par!

HMMM! 16 miles in 25 minutes? 1.5 MPH must have been a long traffic jam.

Huh? 16 miles in 25 minutes is more like 38 mph.
