I am new to this site, so sorry if I'm posting this thread in the wrong area. I purchased a 2014 Prius Plug-in in May of this year. I don't use the charger everyday, but I try to use it several times a week. I have noticed that when I first got it, it would charge about 13 miles ( can't remember the exact number) and now it only charges to 12.5. I have left it charged all night which is more than the needed 3 hours and it still won't charge to the 13 miles anymore. I know that 1 mile isn't a big deal, but I lease my Prius and I don't want to have to replace the charger later if I can replace it now under warranty. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do? Thanks.
welcome to priuschat! no worries, the charge estimate on your screen varies. you get a full charge every time, but the screen tries to estimate your past ev mile average. your good, all the best!
Sounds normal to me..BTW The cord is not the charger, the charger is built into the car. The EVSE is just an extension cord
I find if I drive gently in EV mode, my projected miles after the next charge goes up. I'm now up to roughly 15.6 - 16 miles per charge now. There are a of helpful hints to achieving this mileage, including paying careful attention to maintaining overall momentum (think at least 20 seconds ahead), seeking to glide whenever possible (lightly touch the accelerator to prevent low level regen), avoid quick accelerations/braking, etc. Some other techniques are a bit different, such as Pulse and Glide, though I don't use that (currently, anyway).
