I found out why the Prius has been getting a bad rap...

So, I was driving home today, after hanging out with my friend at the local Dunkin' Donuts, and what cuts me off in my Tacoma?

    A PRIUS!

I was traveling through an intersection, and because this person (I'll leave the gender to your imagination) was about to miss their turn, they jump in in front of my Tacoma just so they wouldn't have to turn down a street further down that could still easily get them to wherever they were going.

So, I guess owning a Prius does not necessarily make you a "good" driver, eh?

(Keep in mind, I AM a Prius owner, I was just out in the truck at the time because honestly, I hadn't thought about taking the car)

Was the unidentified driver also on a cell phone?
    Putting on makeup?
    Texting?

My occasional efforts to set a good example by tooling along calmly
away from everybody else in the right lane seem for naught to some
local prius drivers, who scream on by in the left lane and don't
even look over. To many, it's just a car, and the law of proportions
as far as types of personalities says that this may become more and
more true as time goes on. *sigh*

Got passed by a Prius today during my evening commute... I was doing about 80MPH in the center lane, he was doing at least 95 in the left lane. Being ever-curious, I followed him at a several car length distance for a few miles to see how much the car was swaying, etc, at those speeds. I went back to 80 when he started weaving in and out to pass people then jammed on the brakes and did a right-exit.

I am sure that it was driven by one of the biggest complainers about the Prius not getting the EPA rated mileage.

I didn't see the person on a cell phone. As far as I could tell the only thing that person was doing was smoking a cigarette and casually paying attention to the vehicles around the car. The look on the person's face was almost smug, like their Prius was better than the relics around them, giving them the right to drive however they felt like.

I wonder if some people learn to drive in games like Need For Speed or Gran Turismo...

...wait a minute, that's where I learned what an 'apex turn' was! :D

My drive home today involved a black, shiny Hummer who put his foot to the floor to pass me, only to put on the brakes three seconds later. No wonder there is this site: fuh2.com. At least there isn't a site for the Prius like this.
Edit: if you are of a sensitive nature, please do not click on this link.

Heh - I wonder if some of us might make it on to a site like that one!

Not that I'm innocent here or anything - I'm sure my driving has unintentionally ticked off a few people and made them want to run me over.

    I hope so!

The more people realize it is a car that will go fast enough, the more people will buy them. And you know what? Even if they go 85, they'll be getting substantially more MPG than they would in their Explorer going 85. Probably 2 1/2 times the MPG.

So, is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

Surely you know that she cut you off because she hates pickup trucks. Just another case of anti-pickup truck rage by Prius drivers. She was probably tailgating you for miles too. Of course, you wouldn't have been able to see her behind you.

    Dear Prudence,

That was too rich. Quite a few photos of the hummer and "the bird".
