It'll be interesting to see how the Hybrid Sonata does in sales when it hits the market. The Hyundai hybrid drivetrain is basically a Honda IMA drivetrain with a clutch to allow the disc-shaped electric motor to move the car by itself in electric-only mode. (Hyundai IMA? LOL) Hopefully Hyundai wouldn't make the same mistake Honda did with their ill-fated Accord Hybrid-- Large price premium over the regular Accord with negligable improvement in fuel economy.
First Lithium-ion hybrid. If there is more trunk space than the Camry hybrid, Altima hybrid or Fusion hybrid, Hyundai may have that advantage.
I think Hyundai has 30kW electric motor. Not anemic 10-15kW like the Honda's IMA. Of course, that's nothing compared to Prius' 80 kW e-motor.
