Have a fcv? Want to go from the bronx or braintree to DC? Take amtrack or a plane. Pretty simple. With a dozen hydrogen stations on the east coast hydrogen highway, look for demo trips and commutes, no long range travel.

What do you think 800 fcv for these 4 stations? 2000 for the dozen planned? Maybe 2000 by 2021? That would go on top of the 86 stations in california with what? 30,000 that makes 32,000 in the next 5.5 years or the potential of 5820 per year on average. I don't think they will sell that many, but that is the infrastructure potential.

I95 on a tesla S 70D would require 2 or 3 stops between braintree and Richmond VA for super charging, but its doable. Maybe 1 stop in a model 3 with the biggest pack ;-) in 2018.

 

we always drive to dc and nyc, amtrak is a nightmare, and to get to and from the airports is a hassle.

best to consider the hydrogen Industry's neverending over promising & incessant under-delivering. Ie; Don't count your hydrogen stations before they hatch. Or to repeat the hydrogen Lobby mantra, maybe "in just 10 more years". BTW, if that Bronx station ever does get built - just curious, who's going to be paying for it? Or does that not even matter. Now, if Toyota actually builds it out of their own pocket - Count Me In !! I too will shout thank you Toyota! Nothing proves true commitment like spending your own money, instead of taxpayers money.

don't forget to pay the toll at the GWB. $10-12 on top of your fuel cost.

 

Remember fuel is paid for by tax payers and toyota ;-) Even with hundreds of millions of federal and state funding, even charging $2/kg would likely kill any interest in the mirai, or tucson fcv, or clarity. Volume is so low it doesn't cost much for fuel, but those stations are very expensive per car.

 

or, think of it as feeee .... like welfare or food stamps ... all it takes is more money printing anyway .... so what if it further dilutes the purchasing power of your bank account ... perhaps hydrogen profitability may come in only 10 more years. If Toyota lobbies hard enough, im sure all us taxpayers can cover actual hydrogen costs .... ~15/kg or so is really no big deal!

That's a cool article, but they said that when Prius came out (they would make hybrids for every vehicle) seems like I dutifully waited 4 years (seemed like forever) for Camry hybrid in 2006 it was blah re: cargo space and MPG so somehow I got off my Camry focus and got a Prius. TCH better now, but man what a wait.
