No mention of driver error. Pick up of the story should be pretty good among the usual doomsayers... But, maybe there's hope. Interesting comments on Technocrat.net dismissing The Register per se... http://technocrat.net/d/2007/3/12/15943

Ha, the Richmond Mall! I lived in Augusta for a few years when I was a kid.

I wouldn't really call it a rampage. He seemed to be driving at reasonable speeds and he had his headlights on. At least it wasn't crowded with shoppers.

If I still lived in GA I'd probably go on a rampage too!

This one is really getting around. Isn't it the same story about a Prius running into a gas station and starting a fire?

Nope, It's a dude in an SUV joy riding inside a mall in Augusta, GA. The topic title is wrong, though, which is causing the confusion.

Ah the art of the PR spin...

"Hybrid vehicle attacks gas station" Wow. They want you to think that hybrids are bad because they attack things  ! The irony is that the prius lessens our dependence on foreign oil, and lowers the proffits of the oil industry. So i guess it is actualy "attacking" the gas station, just not litteraly.

I think that this the same article that says "you need to get out of there! Thats a hybrid car!" Oh noes! A hybrid car? How horrible! As if the driver didn't know that he owned a hybrid.

    *sigh*

... there was a "B" film called the "The Blob"; the original article sounds like that film's script with "hybrid" used in place of "Blob"

How can you call a wonderful classic like the "Blob" a "B" fill. I was in high school when that came out. Who starred in it? Steve McQueen? I'm not sure now.

Steve McQueen, yep. Although now this thread is sort of making me want to see a Prius splatter film, maybe called Who did the electric car kill? :D
