ok, I've done some research but haven't found any answers. Mine is a 2005 with the triangle of death. 12 volt battery is around 12.5-6 Volts (good). I pulled the pack and found all cells are within .1 volt 7.8-7.9 except one which was 6.6 Volts. I replaced said cell with one at 7.8 volts and reinstalled without "balancing" pack. Before car would start and run but now won't start. Voltage and pack is around 209 I think which is is close to before but now the car won't or drive at all. Also I see no voltage at the connection to the cables which run to the front of the car. I cleaned all bus bars and inspected the small wires near them which appear fine. I do not see any codes stored although there was the initial bad pack code before this all started. I'm at a loss here. Do I attempt to balance in parallel for which I'll need to do more research and reinstall or just get a used pack?
Check your orange Safety Disconnect Switch. That is the number one problem on this site. You need to insert, rotate 90 degrees and then push down until it locks in place.
Welcome to Whac-a-mole/Ground Hog Day. You will be reliving this again soon. As a module replacement is a very temporary solution.
Didn't realize I had to rotate the plug. Have just been folding the lever to lock it. Just respected it. No way to rotate it.im getting approximately 216 volts to first terminal but zero to second set with plug in place DiOTE="jdcollins5, post: 2342106, member: 55871"]Check your orange Safety Disconnect Switch. Iirc, You won't get voltage at the cable connected terminals until ready. Disconnect and reconnect your 12v and re seat your connectors. Read codes
I bought an obd2 scanner from harbor freight but it doesn't see any codes. Have had the hybrid pack in and out several times now. Same results. Is my pack voltage too low at 216? Can I erase codes without the reader?
Did[/QUOTE] I think what you are calling folding is what I am calling rotating. After "folding" or rotating you still have to slide it down to complete the circuit to the computer that the Safety Plug is in position.
CODE READING OPTIONS IN MY SIGNATURE. I love HF, but I wouldn't trust one of their OBDII readers when there are much better options. With Torque Pro, a bluetooth ELM327 reader and the extended PIDs for the Prius, you can see some pretty detailed hybrid-specific stuff. All for less than $20 total. MiniVCI is the best provided you have a suitable laptop. The diagnostic power of the dealer.
I have the elm327 on order. I forgot to lock the lever but that wouldn't cause the pack to not work right?
BTW... in order to use Torque, you have to be an Android user. No equivalent iphone option. Read this post: 2006 - Hybrid Battery Replacement - Anyone do it themselves? | PriusChat
Ok, I've got an android. Do I need torque pro or is the standard version fine? I have no issues springing the extra 5 bills if needed
Thanks to all of you! I got my car running with no warning lights. Now I can drive it to O'Reilly for a scan/erase. The only difference I see is the power button light does not go green anymore but the car drives fine. We'll see how long...
I know this thread is kind of old but I'm having a problem with my TCH it's a 2007 and I had a bad cell on my Hybrid battery I replaced it I put everything back together and I put it back in the car and nothing happened I put the plug-in pushed it down and locked it and nothing happened at all when I went up to the front of the car and the driver seat to start it I had some power up there but a lot of my accessories would not work my power seats would not work I pushed on the right to start it and it's like I didn't even recognize the break the gas engine wouldn't start this time it started before I replaced the battery I don't know what I did but it's not working at all can somebody please make a suggestion
Did you check your 12v battery, if it's not up to snuff the processors will not boot up? No boot up, no gas engine startup. 2006 Gen 2 2014 Gen 3 v wagon
Agreed, you need to check the health of the 12v first. Working on the HV battery usually means having the doors/trunk open for long periods of time and letting the vehicle sit used while waiting on parts both of which can weaken an older battery. Also, make double-triple sure you completed the 3 step lock procedure of the orange safety switch.
