    Hello,
    I have a 2012 Prius C, 130,000 Miles. (Purchased new February of 2013)
Any one know where to get an decent priced Hybrid Battery Replacement for a 2012 C?
I got the error message on screen

"Check hybrid system, stop immediately" message

Took it to Autozone to have code read, it was P0A80, took it to toyota to have them check, and same thing. Dealor qouted $3400 to replace with $2500 of that for a battery. 4 to 5 hours of labor.

    I am located in Dallas.

Aren't you still under the battery warranty? Also, those prices are higher than I just paid -- $1,950 for the battery, $2,700 total (but mine is a gen 2, don't know about 3rd gen).

I emailed them, and will call tomorrow morning, thanks for the find.

Warranty in Texas is 8 Years, 100,000 Miles. I even called Toyota to see if they could do anything, and if this was hopefully related to the Prius failures, it was not. They stated I was over the milage for any applicable warranty.

6 years is early. I've read stories of board members with older batteries (and past the mileage) receive some good will credit. I would call again and ask a different person for some help. They don't have to help, but they often do. If you had your c serviced at a dealership that would also work in your favor.

If your dealer won't contact Toyota for a good will call, try another dealer for help.

I'll see if they will call. If not, I'll try another dealership.

Yes, ask for the head of the local dealer service department, or contact Toyota directly yourself at 1 (800) 331-4331. Let us know how it goes. Curious.

I contacted 2 other dealership's, only 1 called Toyota on my behalf, same answer. I called again myself, same answer. Even though the prius C battery is the same as the Gen 3 battery. They won't even off a discount of any kind.

Contacted texas prius battery, left a voicemail, no call back.

Contacted Hometown hybrids in Houston, they will have a new battery installed on Saturday around noon in my driveway. $2395 total. 3 yr warranty, 75k miles.

    Pricing | Hometown Hybrids

Found them from a Google search to an article from forbes:

That is very unlike Toyota. Well I would try one more time, and let then know you are an active user on Priuschat, and many members are waiting to see the outcome on this.

I'll try again in the morning and mention priuschat, and see how they choose to behave knowing a lot of people (not sure of the number) will know the outcome of this situation. (I won't be asanine or rude over the phone)

Called Toyota again, got a nicer person over the phone. The out come is she will look into out of warranty replacement help and will get back to me in 2 business days with what they can do. If it's not lower than $2000, even though less than HomeTown Hybrids price, I won't take the deal. The toyota dealer still hasn't located a battery for me which is odd. So I don't want to wait another week or how ever long and pay more for a rental.

In certain parts of the country, there's a shortage of batteries right now. It's not unusual for there to be a waiting list.

Matt at texas prius, got back to me,
Quoted $2545 installed, with a 4 year warranty on new battery from Toyota. Said it would take about a week to order from Toyota.

If Toyota doesn't come through, looks like Home town hybrids would be best route to go so far.

There is a national backorder on batteries right now.

In the past I could expect next day availability. But currently it can be a week.

I think there can also be a delay before a knowledgeable technician becomes available. For me they had to get a battery from Chicago (I assume a distribution center?). It took a little less than a week before those two things came together, and Memorial Day was in between.

Update, Toyota called said they worked with the service manager of the dealorship and are offering a discount, $1500 off the price of the battery. Saying I would owe $1304 for the battery plus labor of the dealership. Dealership told me of the $3400 charge, $2500 was battery. If it's $900 for labor, plus $1304 = $2204. Plus I would have to pay for a rental for anothet week or longer until they get a battery. I declined.

Hometown Hybrids it is, around noon on Saturday to install my battery. Total cost $2295 not $2395.

if the battery is 2500 and toy is giving 1500 off, isn't that 1000 plus 900 = 1900?

Should be. But they raised the price of the battery by $400. She qouted me 1304 after 1500 off. Tells me price of battery was changed. Or if was originally 2800, then labor was only 600. So it would be 1900.

So 1900 vs 2295. The 1900 I will need to add about 200 for a car rental for another week until they find a battery. So for cost and convenience, I'll stick with hometown hybrids.
