Original HV battery pack finally coded after 17 yrs (2024-2007), 179k miles. Got a donor pack to transplant into the Gen2 case. Question for everyone: 1) What would be the best arrangement, w/o knowing the capacity/resistance, given only the following resting DVM readings. Do I arrange as listed in the spreadsheet below? Or do I keep the original pairs together: 1&2, 27&28? 2) Is it a good idea to use dielectric grease or Permatex Battery Protector [which has silicone grease chemical properties, according to the Techinical Data Sheet (TDS)] Will be picking up a new Wire Frame No 2 (82165-47040).
So these are all unracked modules 28 of them. I would think really it's not going to make a whole lot of difference how you rack them up then you need bus bars and nuts and all of that stuff I used the CRC red spray when I assembled mine somebody here said that that stuff doesn't conduct electricity well I greatly beg to differ the picture of the can they showed said so on the can my can doesn't say anything like that and doesn't look like the same can It's a spray I check my undercover of my battery every six or eight months because I've got nothing better to do and so far everything stays nice and red The copper bus bars are still copper they're not turning black no frosting on the nuts and the battery ECU plug and underneath its hood looks brand new. So I continue to use my spray that doesn't conduct electricity apparently. We've done this like twice and we're on our I don't know second maybe third year on one of the batteries and one of the other batteries I just got out of a junk car the other week looks like it was purchased maybe 8 9 months ago put in the car and then all of a sudden the owner was told the brakes were out and they said they were out car went to the towing lot I get the whole thing so now that new battery sitting in my other daily driver.
Donor pack from from an auto recyclers, off a 2017 Prius. Pack is from a 2017 Prius. Unknown donor vehicle miles and how long the pack has been sitting at the auto dismantler. The HV pack is grade A: Definition of Grade A: A = Less than or equal to 60k miles, or greater than 60k miles but less than or equal to 200k miles and less than or equal to 15k miles per year
Main thing is to get them racked up and get them back in the game charging and discharging and working again how they're racked really is not going to be a big thing unless you have them racked at purchase then you could move around the middlemans to the outside and so on and so forth if you were so inclined to try and play those games would it make any difference probably not.
I would take the modules from the 2017 donor battery and install them in the same order in your 2007 battery.
Car seems to be functionally normally. Went with the module shuffle, highlighted in Post#1 inquiry. Thx for the feedback everyone.
