I like the original light. I prefer the subdued, romantic look. If I need a brighter light, I keep an LED flashlight in the glove box.

I rarely use that domelight. In my last car I think I used it maybe twice in 10 years?

I'm starting to hate bright white LED lights. I changed out all the lightbulbs in the house to LEDs, and now I feel like I'm in an office building! The light is too harsh. Now I regret doing it.

 

I bet you don't regret the reduction in your electricity bill.
I did the same and now all the lights in the house, total, use less than one old 60W bulb. Mine are not all bright, some are soft white LEDs.

 

Yes, I put two soft white LEDs in the bathroom. Much better. I couldn't stand it anymore, being blinded.

Even long before I got LEDs, would you believe my electric bill is only about $38 per month in winter? Maybe I get a senior discount. And it's running about $46 this summer because I always have 2 fans going. (There is no AC in this old house.) When the sales people come to the front door, selling solar panels… I just laugh.

House gas bill is $13. (water heater and clothes dryer). And of course, I drive a Prius, so I can't get much greener than that! That's one good thing about being a single old guy, you don't use much utilities.

(In the car, 99% of my driving is during daytime, so I just leave the dome light off all the time.)
