Please share your ideas to keep PIP cool in the sun. High heat is very detrimental to PIP battery. What kind of sunshades do you use? Tint recommendations etc?
Tint does help (although over time, say 6 hours or so, heat build up comes from sources other than the windows). The same would apply to sunshades. I think the best solution for me has been to just crack the windows a bit on both sides so the interior gets some kind of ventilation. It seems to help a lot. Aside from that, park in the shade and use the AC if you need it. As many here will say, if you're comfortable, the battery is comfortable too.
almost 10 years of driving pri, never had an issue and park in the sun in a hot parking lot all day long. not say that tint and sunshades aren't good, i'm sure they are.
I lower all four windows less than an inch when parking, try to get shade if I can, and use a reflective shade on the windshield if leaving the car in the sun for more than an hour. I think the PiP battery is more sensitive to heat than that of the regular Prius. (At least I don't remember reading the cautionary statements about either of my GEN II's.) I use the "comfort rule" mentioned above when I'm driving in warmer weather.
Hmmm...... that's a new one. Usually we hear "seamy valley." But the porn film industry is actually one pass over in the San Fernando Valley.
I tint my windows (15% in the rear) and park in the shade if possible. I used to use a sunshade but I'm not disciplined enought to use it consistently. I never crack the windows open. That just invites thieves.
