How Many Years Do You Expect Your 2010 Prius To last ?

I'm hoping on a minimum of 150k miles or 5 years. Anything after that's a bonus.

 

8-10 years 160- 200 k klm w/o anything major going.

 

At least 10 years and 180K miles. Anything beyond that will be a plus.

My last vehicle was a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 188K miles and still running like a sewing machine. I also agree that the Prius should be a better automobile than the Jeep.

 

My goal is to get through graduate school. After that, I envision handing this car down to my son and investing in an EV. By then they will have been in the market long enough for me to be able to tease out the best option.

 

I was able to get 305,000 miles and 10 years from my Toyota 4Runner with less then $1,000 in total repairs. I plan on doing the same with the Prius. I have close to 25,000 miles on it now. It will be out of warrenty before then end of 2010.

 

20 years plus
Our 92 Previa (now our son's) is still going strong and I expect the Prius to do at least as well

I tend to keep cars for years, therefore 10 years, 150-180,000 miles is my expectation. Currently, my G3 is my primary, everday, go everywhere vehicle. The Prius may be the last new car I will purchase, but time will tell.

I also own a Dodge 3/4 ton PU to pull my RV, but it is used only 3-4 times a year and I plan to dispose of both soon.

 

It's good to see another Previa fan. Our 91 AWD LE would also still have been going strong except we traded it in for the '10 Prius last year under the C4C program. At that time it had 250k miles. If the C4C deal wasn't so good we would have kept it much longer.

 

Mine just needs to last 3yrs/45k miles (to the end of my lease). Then, I'll move up to the g5.

 

I am not counting by years, but by miles. I already have over 24000 miles and the car is only 8 months old. I am hoping for around 250,000 miles. We will see how long this will take and how well the car is holding up.

 

I'm at 4-1/2 yrs and 150,000 miles right now. I expect another 4-5 yrs to go. My buddy traded his 04 Prius for a new '10 model last July. He had 246,000 miles on the older one.

Rest easy and drive for as long as you wish.

 

I'll never know, because I will sell my 2010 within the next 12 months or so, when the Nissan Leaf is available in Boston. My 2004 was 6 1/2 years old and had 80,000 miles on it, it was going just fine... Kind of wish I kept it, had I known the Leaf was so close to release, I would have.

 

Hmm. Well, I'm budgeting for 10 years. That would be 200,000 miles as the primary car. Assuming we're still living in Maine we'd still need 2 cars so we'd be replacing it around the end of 2019.

200,000 miles could be stretching it if we don't move somewhere with a usable garage. In Maine the engine keeps running but the rest of the car falls apart*.

Hopefully by 2019 we'll be in a better (and smaller) house with a usable garage to help extend the life and allow the use of a PHEV or EV. (With my wife's freedom anxiety I think we'd end up at best with a PHEV even though I'd love an EV.)

If we keep the Civic 10 years (it'd only be at about 120k) it'd be replaced in 2018.

* Or so I'm told. I'm a PFA.

 

I live at the top of a hill that's at 2200 ft. To the East is the SF Bay Area Peninsula and to the West is the Pacific (Half Moon Bay) so all the up and down is likely to take a toll. My Tercel lasted about 150,000 miles. I expect about the same from the Prius. It has a small ICE that works quite hard once there is no more battery power available to assist it as on long climbs. If the batter needs replacing at 150k and is very expensive I'll do a fair amount of soul searching, wondering if lots of other things will go wrong I try to get another 100K out of it.

 

I've had my 2010 since October. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only owner this car ever has. My plan at present is to drive it until the wheels fall off. I'm not sure what to use for comparison, but I owned a 1986 Dodge 4x4 (Mitsubishi engine) from 1994 to 2002, and at sweet 16 the truck still felt like it had a lot of life left. Assuming a battery change around the ten year mark, I would hope to get at least that much life out of my Prius.

Let's say 20 years or 250,000 miles. All figures subject to revision pending apocalypse or fickle whim.

 

My 1989 Toyota Corolla AllTrac wagon is still on the road. Why would I expect a new Toyota to last less?

 

I love to hear about the XJ Cherokee longevity. Ours is a tank! Long live the 4.0L I6............oh wait, they don't make those anymore

My buddy has a gen II Prius with 187K on the clock, original battery. So that would be nice.
