How many electrical miles do you achieve per charge?

12.9 today, but I never drive until it runs out. It's what the computer tells me I should expect. I did drive all the way home on 11.1 miles of EV and drove 12 miles home with .1 miles left.

About 8 miles EV on my 9-mile commute with my 2012 PIP. Mostly 50-60 m/h on freeway, several long hills. Distance has degraded about 15-20% since Mar 2012, used to get close to 10 miles.

with 50 mph highway miles, you'l probably get around 8 or 9 miles. i get 14 or so, but it's all backroads around 30 mph. also, a/c takes a bit in summer. i love mine, it does seem like a good fit for you.

 

It varies, but around town it's normally about 13.5 miles on pure electric, without A/C, and keeping it mostly under 40mph.

In warmer temps without AC, about 15 miles. Winter is about 12.

I'm taking a shorter commute (13 miles round trip) that has slower roads to achieve this, cruising at about 35 MPH. About half the year I'm able to make the trip on EV only, the other half falls about a mile short, and the engine comes on anytime I run the defroster, which is necessary starting in October.

You won't be able to make your 16.4 miles on EV only, but the ability to charge on campus (for free, right?) is appealing. If you can find a used PiP for close to the same as the standard Prius, why not?

 

I've been getting about 12 miles. My commute is about 8.5 miles each way using local streets. I get all the way to work in the morning on EV and then a little less than half way home on EV.

I'm one week into my second tank of gas. This week my consumption average is 175mpg. I've done approx. 145 miles and used less than a gallon of gas.

My first tank of gas I went over 800 miles on 7.5 gals before I filled up.

I find that on cold mornings I need to run the ICE to get heat to clear the fog from the windows. But I can get a little more EV time in the afternoon. I haven't analyzed it, but I figure it's a wash, or pretty close anyway.

A lot of mornings I pull out of my neighborhood into traffic and I end up accelerating too much and start the ICE, but likewise I get a little extra in the afternoon, so I don't worry about it either. I figure at over 100 MPG average, I can't worry about the little things.

Well there may be some exaggeration... I'm a little obsessed. You should hear me cuss when I unintentionally start the engine pulling into traffic.

 

are you in eco mode? it makes it a little harder.

 

Originally I was. At some point I must have turned it off. I read a thread recently that mentioned the mapping differences between Eco, regular and Power. So I was going to try a different setting and I noticed I was already in regular. Not sure when that happened. But I've been running in regular for about a week now.

 

I might run regular mode this winter since I won't be using the AC. As far as I know, the only thing Eco mode does is screw up the throttle mapping and run the AC more efficiently.

My 2013 is down to 7.8 mi EV range with no AC. Really disappointing. Complained to the dealer, nothing. I get maybe .2-.3 mi more than it predicts.

 

What's the total mileage on your 2013?

 

Before anyone posts any more EV miles numbers...they should also post:

3. average commute (including speed and distance)
4. where they live
5. where they charge (inside garage or out)
6. level 1 or level 2 charging
7. new tires? LRR? pressure?
