Honestly, I get the vibe sometimes that people see me as some sort of environmental fanatic who lives an alternate lifesytle... :( Of course, I really don't care what anyone else thinks, I simply love the car, and the gas milage savings.

    There are two kinds of people in this world;
those that fit into categories and those that don't.

Personally, I was driving an SUV because I thought it was cool. It was cool, but then I realized that I was never using the 4 wheel drive, or the trunk, or pretty much the back seat at all. Meanwhile, I was paying close to 50 bucks to fill up my tank. With a 50 mile round trip commute, I was spending more on gas then any other non house related expense. I love the prius for its mpg, and for the safety.

I did not vote due the lack of a catagory: "If I cared how people see me I would have bought the pimped white Envoy with gold accents."

Hmmm... what do I see with my Pri-eye?

Yes, I would say weirdo's simply because anyone to the contrary likely cannot spy with their non-Pri eye, the fascination, "usefullness", and just simply flat-out smarts of owning a Prius and being fly...

...or two for that matter, a Pri for each eye.

As for Dracut, it's on the New Hampshire line, just north of Lowell, about the size of a dime.... I commute to Wellesley everyday, hence my entry into the realm of the Prius.

    It's more than a car. It's a lifestyle....

Depends. If my husband is driving, then he's a wimp. If I'm driving, I'm either a granola/data cruncher or a weirdo.

Don't know why people in Maryland believe they need an SUV or a truck. They haven't lived on a farm in lord knows how many generations and they don't have 4 kids anymore.

I would have to think people see me as a wimp since I'm 6" @ 140lbs. with no tatoos and I don't smoke. Oh and I drive slow now and always use turn sigs. When you say Alt. lifestyle that means gay right? So I can see people thinking I'm a wimpy gay man. Especialy in Hollywierd.

Oh man, Bill's name is on all of your polls.

California is also SUV-land. And I also don't know why, other than people seem to like to loom over small cars. And they also have some misguided notion that SUV's are safer than regular cars, so I guess advertising works.

Given that everyone is always telling me that the price of gas will never pay back the extra that I paid to have a hybrid car, I think that they view me as a fanatic weirdo when I tell them that wasn't the only reason that I got the car. It was mainly for low emissions, and the prinicple of using less gas, not whether I'd get back what I paid in dollars from buying less gas.

"Flat-out weirdo" for me - but I'm afraid it has nothing to do with the Prius!

I had to click on the mac user one, since I do use a mac.

Prii are really common here, so mainly it's being an average person who likes to save on gas.

Amazingly, yes, California is SUV-land, the Bay Area is much better for hummer-spotting than Orange County where hummers are kinda rare, and there are plenty of people who have a BMI of 30+ and seem to live on baloney, white bread, mayo, and cottage cheese. As an Orange Countyian myself, I have to say the Midwest starts at Oxnard lol.

You should see all the trucks and SUVs in Texas. I thought Louisiana was bad! There are more Prius owners here too, but they drive just as bad the truckers so they're cancelled out. It's just me & my Prius in a city of terrrrible drivers.
