I bought a used 2005. I'm curious to know what package it has, and how to find out. It has: 4-button display (eg: no navigation system). Single CD player, and a 6-cd changer down lower on the dash. The changer is hidden under a door, and has the "Toyota" written on it, so I presume it is original. Alloy wheels, but a set of hubcap-like outer covers, similar to the 'beauty rings' only they're not chrome. What else do I look for? How can I find out?

It's original but it's a dealer-installed CD Changer accessory. A single CD means you don't have the 9-speaker JBL Audio system. http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html So your car could be... 1. base 2. Package 1 (GY) 3. Package 2 (AG) 4. Package 4 (BI) 5. Package 5 (AM) then just whittle down the options from there based on what you have in the car.
I've never heard of some of these things. How do you tell if you have them: Side Curtain Airbags Anti-Theft system Homelink SE/SS (Smart-Entry, Smart-Start) VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) Finally, what is this touring package I've heard about? Does it include an upgraded suspension?
For the airbags, you should see a little "SRS" sticker in the general area. As for SKS, do you leave your key in your pocket the whole time? Or do you have to put it in the key slot?
Ah, now I'm getting somewhere. - Yes, I leave the key fob in my pocket. The dealer is going to add a glass breakage sensor and pen door alarm. - I'll go out and look for the SRS sticker.
Take a look at the 2005 Prius eBrochure which describes all the equipment that's standard and in each option package: http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/05_prius.pdf As to the Touring Edition Prius -- you do NOT have it, as it was a model line of the 2007 - 2009 model year Prius. The Touring Edition had the following standard equipment that were not standard on and/or not available for the Standard Prius: -- Front HID headlights and front fog lights. -- 16" wheels and tires -- Larger rear spoiler -- Tuned Suspension which consisted of larger front and rear stabilizer (sway) bars, and different rear shocks and springs.
I'm going to call it a Package 4/AM. I do have: -- VSC (press the power button twice without foot on brake - see VSC in display) -- Side curtain airbags - it says so on the seats. -- Smart key system - car starts with fob in pocket, and no key. I don't have the JBL stereo confused or the Nav system. I do have a Toyota 6-CD changer, and the sound system sounds pretty good. I think the color is "Tideland Pearl with Ivory Interior" although mine is a bit more gray than the samples. Now I know what I have... thanks all.
JBL audio includes an in-dash CD Changer and cassette player in the radio head unit. The compartment where your CD changer is, is where we store CD cases and other small items. It also comes with 9-speakers (incl. a centre speaker above the MFD). Oooh.. another rare Tideland Pearl!
He hit a homer with the color. All things considered, I think Tideland Pearl and Magnetic Gray were the two best Gen II colors sold in the US/Canada.
