Does anybody know how to turn the turn signal flash when unlocking the doors feature off? I don't like the two signal flash when I unlock the car, and would like to turn this feature off. The manual states that there is a way, and that if we want it disabled to have it done by the local Toyota dealer. However I hope someone know how
    Thanks,
    Clint

    Might one ask why?

I would opt to turn the beeping off but leave the lights flashy. Personally, I think it's tacky anymore to have the security system beep when it locks/unlocks. Let's face it, there's hardly a car manufactured these days without an optional security feature. And if you didn't get it original you can have one put in. Thinking that having a security system makes you "cool" or "hip" just isn't the case anymore. I want the doors to unlock when I reach for the handle and that's just fine. When I lock, I appreciate a light flash, but I don't need to hear about it.

Any technology readily available to everyone at an affordable price is no longer cutting edge. There are businessmen who think they are uber-cool even though they are using the same cell phones that my junior high niece carries.

It's just that when I see someone walking out to their car and they arrogantly point their fob and the car goes "chirp" I just think to myself, "so what? BFD."

[sorry, that really turned into a rant.]

In both my and my wife's Biuck Regals I turned the horn honk acknowledgement off. Would do the same to Priapus if I knew how.

Yeah, this would be good info if the end-user can change it. I anticipate getting my Prius in a couple months (gee, has it already been almost a year? It only seems like it's been a millennium...) and disabling the chirp is one of the things on my list of things to tweak.

Now if only it was possible to disable the license agreement every time the nav comes up...

Thanks, Troy. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but I can't find one that only turns off the beeps. 'hazard ans back' sounds like it shuts both lights and beeps off.

I'm sure many people appreciate you turning off the horn honk, it should be illegal. For a couple of years, someone at the grocery store 1/4 mile "as the crow flys" across the ravine must have gotten out of work at 10 PM. Honk, Honk, Honk it would wake us up. At least the Prius beep is a lot less intrusive.

I like the chirp when I lock the door, so I know it locked. The lights flashing is useless since I can't see them unless I'm in the garage. I don't need any indication when I unlock the door, because the fact that I can open the door tells me it unlocked!

A couple of times the door didn't lock. (The car was on, or the spare fob was inside.) I was grateful for the distinct failed-to-lock chirp. And in winter, with heavy gloves, I want an audible confirmation that I actually pressed the lock button.

I second that. I appreciate the feedback too.

Haz ans back sounds like they are referring only to the lights, but you know how descriptive manuals can be. Repair manual doesn't even say how to use the THHT to set these things, only that it can be set.
