I'm overseas and don't have access to any Prius, but when I return I'm planning to repaint my hood. I couldn't find any guides on how to remove the front emblem; is it easy or is there an actual process? Edit: It can be removed with some fishing wire while carefully going around the 3 placement holes.
I agree on hair dryer. I would also add one of those disposable razor-knives that can be extended excessively (say extended to 1 inch or 1 1/2 inches beyond handle). The excessively extended, disposable razor-knife can be worked between hood and emblem AFTER emblem has been heated with hair dryer. If I was doing this procedure, I would likely apply blue painter's tape to hood around emblem (in an effort to avoid creating scratches in hood during emblem removal). Hood scratching is likely not an issue for OP as OP is repainting the hood.
It has three placement holes? Mine fell off our 2006 while washing it last weekend and it only had 2 pins on the emblem and 2 holes in the hood. Used a razor to carefully clean off the remaining glue on the hood. Will probably reattach it this weekend.
