Honda Reveals Plans for Prius-Fighter, Possible Ridgeline, Pilot Hybrids - Motor Trend

The unofficial Twitter poll that the author conducted shows that people do want a Pilot or a Ridgeline Hybrid more than an Odyssey Hybrid.

The current V6 HSD with AWD can match the Tacoma's 3500lbs tow rating. The V6 Tacoma with the tow package has a rating of 6400lbs. Perhaps the new Lexus hybrid system can be able of such a tow rating.

The Highlander HSD would be fine for most Tacoma buyers. The real hurdle will be how much will Toyota charge for it. The Highlander hybrid is pricey. Increase the Tacoma price too much, and buyers might look elsewhere.

Side issue to the Ridgeline hybrid is Toyota offering a Tacoma one in response.

It's not totally a side issue on a site dedicated to Toyota vehicles.

i remember that experience somewhere along the line too. but it is predominantly prius, and things can get heated if someone claims that there's a better product out there.:p

Actually we love to read 'press release' and 'power point' and 'professional writer' stories about superior vehicles that are not on sale in the USA. We've learned to love our alternative automotive news:

    Source: Charles Pogue Carb.

In Dec. 12, 1936 Canadian Automotive Magazine states that the standard carburetor gets about 25 mpg at only 9% efficiency. Therefore the Pogue carburetor is 72% efficient overall at 200 mpg.

“A carburetor that would allow a car to travel 200 miles on a gallon of gas caused oil stocks to crash when it was announced by its Canadian inventor Charles Nelson Pogue in the 1930s. . . .

We're not getting as many 'diesels are better' postings as we used to get.

Honda's for many years were my cars of choice. I still own 2 a Nsx and S2000. When I decided to by a hybrid I went and looked at the Insight but after doing research I found the Prius was by far a better car. Really no comparison. I feel Honda has lost touch with their customer all around. They still make great cars but nothing like what made them the company they are today.

Well...in Japan, the Gen4 Prius has been selling like hot cakes. Aqua (Prius c) has been No. 2 in Japan ever since Gen4 came out. So there is a need for a Prius competitor in Japan.

Re: USA, we are currently favoring plug-ins over hybrids by national policy. Interesting to wonder if U.S. plug-in policy will change in a way more favorable to hybrids. If not maybe Honda's intent is a plug-in version too.
