Sorry, but I searched and found no posts on this. I have lost my factory garage door opener fob. I have one of the buttons on the HomeLink programmed to open a garage door. I want to move that program to another button. Any ideas?

There is no way to do that as far as I know without having the actual door opener.

If you have a standard garage door opener like a Liftmaster or Genie, you can just buy another factory fob and program the opener to recognize it. Sears has a good selection of various brand fobs.

If we are talking about the same thing? You have a set button on the door opener itself, usually have to take off the light cover. There you will find that red button. This has to be pushed in and released and a led should start to flash. While the LED is flashing, press and hold the button you want programed on the remote until the flashing stops on the door opener. Then press the newly programed button on the remote. You should be up and running.

You first have to use your remote to program the Homelink button, then you go through the "learning" process you describe with the garage door opener. So, he still needs a remote.
