I don't have a garage door opener, or a garage. Are there any other uses for the HomeLink function? I know they use to make a home door lock.

There's some light remotes that will work with the Homelink.

I installed massagers into the two front seats and programmed two of the Homelink buttons to turn them on and off. I still use the regular remote controls to control the mode, zone, and intensity functions.

It's pretty easy to set up the Homelink to control X10 lighting and other functions using a radio X10 link. I have my mirror center button (easy to find) set up to turn on the carport and area lights when I come home. I also have another button set to turn off all the lights, but I rarely use it since the lights extinguish after 10 minutes anyway.

See this X10 wireless remote system for starters. You need the remote to "teach" your Homelink mirror. X10, and now "Insteon", are fun toys.
