A friend of mine has recently (4 days ago) got a 2010 Prius III. On saturday while stoping at a red light the hill assist got activated, maybe he depressed the brake pedal too hard. Now the problem is that the hill assist is permanently active in his car i.e the hill assist icon stays there whenever he turns his car on. He has tried to repeat the hard press brake pedal process but to no avail. So need help how to deactivate it.

The icon on the dash is the Traction Control/VSC and is possibly indicating a malfunction in that system. The hill assist will cause the light to flash. If it's on steadily, there's a problem.

The hill assist automatically deactivates in few seconds after releasing the brake pedal. So if the light hasn't gone out, as the previous reply indicated, there is some sort of problem.

Where is this vsc sensor located. How about reseting the ecu, just for a try. I read somewhere that ecu can be reset by removing the battery terminal but don't know which terminal to remove and for how long ?

You may want to check for codes before you disconnect the battery.
