Hey, new guy here. Need some help about headlights.

While I did have an experience once where I slowly passed a deer and it got confused and ran into my right rear corner panel trying too quickly to cross the road after me, I don't believe that you had front end damage because the deer hit you. Obviously you're the one who hit the deer, not the other way around. So let's clear than up first...

 

Are these JDM lights? If so your gonna need to locate a set in Japan.

 

To me, a bezel is like a retaining ring, something that holds something down. Did you replace the entire housing that surrounds the bulb, all the reflective bits and the mounting that holds the bulb, or just something that holds the existing headlight in position?

OK, the various Priuses have had three(?) different types of headlights. Incandescent, HID, LED. With each of them the bulb is a different size and shape, and has an exact spot where it needs to be mounted in relation to the headlight housing. If you throw the wrong bulb into a housing you will still get light coming out of it, but the beam will be all messed up and you'll be driving around thinking "Man, these headlights really S**&!"

The HID bulbs are nice and strong, but they are part of a package where there is a sensor that checks the pitch of the car - how much the nose angles up or down - and physically adjusts the height of the beam so you don't blind people by shining it in their cabin when they go by. Toyota had to do this in order to be allowed to sell a car with HID bulbs.

The simplest thing for you to do would be to buy housings that are the same as what you had, and just put it back like it was. You can sell on the HID housings, just be clear about exactly what they are. Trying to switch your car over to HID is humanly possible, but I would rate the difficulty as too high to be worth the fuss. It isn't just a matter of mating together two different wiring harnesses. You'd have to buy two HID bulbs (pricey), a ballast (pricey), a pitch sensor (pricey) the leveling motors (pricey) and find a way to mount the pitch sensor on a car that wasn't built for it.

If you tried to run without the sensor you'd get people calling the cops about "some nut shining his high beams in everyone's car" and they would be very grumpy when they caught up with you.
