Featured HELP!!!!!

    I have had a 2007 prius for about a year now. Great little car. Today the warning light, and VSC light came on. Then the ABS light and the car would no longer go into gear. We had a diagnostic and the two codes that came up were 1121 and 1116. A few questions:

    1. Can we replace these sensors ourselves?

    2. If so, how difficult and expensive, if not how expensive?

    3. Would this prevent the car from shifting into Drive/Reverse?


    Speed is of the essence as I drive many miles for my job and I need to work

    Have you checked the coolant level in your Radiator? Do it while the car is COOL

    OBDII codes are almost always in the form ANNNN where A is some alphabetic letter, and NNNN are some combination of numbers and letters.

    Your codes do not follow this plan so you may have mis-read them.

    Assuming it is a P1121 Here is info


    A P1116 would point to that same valve being stuck in the wrong position. (there are numerous threads on this on PriusChat, search is your friend)

    And Welcome to PriusChat. Mark the hoses very well so you do not mix them up.

    Who did the diagnostic? If you got it done free at the auto parts store, you're not getting all the information. You may need a Toyota-specific scanner reading.

    And what "warning" light came on? Is the check engine light on?

    As already mentioned, one of your problems is probably low coolant, which would explain the two codes that were read. But those would not normally prevent the car from going into gear, unless there was a severe overheating problem that caused engine damage. And as mentioned above, often a low 12V battery will cause problems. But without the Toyota hybrid codes, we're guessing.
