HELP:need2 pass state echeck w/checkengine light!

    After getting my engine replaced...

    Because there was shaking with white smoke coming out of the tailpipe.

    Now I am in a real pickle bc the Check Engine Light is on and I can not get new Plates with it on.

    P2196
    Bank 1 Rich Fuel/air mix
    Possible O2 sensor.

    Is there anything I can do to potentially solve this issue even in the short term so I can just get Plated.?

    Need a Solution!

    Possibly a minor fix... Did you clear the code and it came back right away? Also what type of device did you use to read the code?

    Yes, if the code is right and the mixture is too rich, the best solution is to fix that. Continuing to drive with a rich mixture will waste fuel, soot things up, and could melt the innards of your catalytic converter, which is expensive.
