Ok the security system on my prius has immobolized the car. I will explain what happened and maybe you guys can help me out.

We are on a road trip home from CO to WI. We stopped last night because we were falling asleep. We pulled over in a parking lot at a truck stop to nap for a bit. Where I think we made our mistake. I locked the doors with the key turning the security system on so that we felt a bit more safe. We then woke up a few hours later to a dinging noise and the immobilize light flashing. AKA anti theft light..

We have tried unlocking the car, starting it with the key, all sorts of stuff. It is sunday so naturally No toyota delerships are open. We finially got a hold of one that was open in Boston lol... Anyway they said we HAVE to get the car towed to a dealership to have it turned off. I need to be home for work tomorrow so naturally i would like it fixed today.

IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN DO THIS MYSELF OR DOES ANYONE KNOW A MECHANIC AT WAGNER TOYOTA OR PREMIER TOYOTA IN NORTH PLATTE NEBRASKA AREA?????

if you could also explain why i am unable to do it myself if that is the case.

THIS REALLY SUCKS AND IS ANNOYING.

I'm not sure what you did "I locked the doors with the key turning the security system " was the cause of the immobilizer lockdown. I did this myself when I matching up a key fob with my Prius and nothing like this occurred.

At the very least, this ia bug in the system as it shouldn't happen. Something you should mention when it's fixed.

In searching online for a solution this issue seems to come when the Prius things the wrong key is inserter. Now if this a smart key, you going to be out of luck. But one person solved this problem as installing a radio in his Prius by rematching his Prius key fox which cleared the lockdown.

Extending sympathy, the situation sounds ...bad. I don't understand the system too well, to the forum-- wouldn't simply disconnecting the 12 volt supply turn off the system for reset?

Maybe, but I am wondering whether the OP has an aftermarket alarm system. In that case who knows what the root issue is.

The flashing immobilizer light is normal. Are you certain you didn't run down the 12V battery?

That sounds like the most likely thing: he had the car in IG-ON or ACC all night instead of either shutting it OFF or leaving it ON ("Ready") and in Park.
