Help How do I jump my 01 Prius. I accidentally left the rear door open just a bit leaving the done light on which caused the battery to die. Now my dash lights wont turn on & I cant even lock my doors with the key remote. Is there a special trick to get it jumped or does the dealership need to do this?

    Please help.

Open the trunk and on the left side there is a felt cover over the 12 V auxiliary battery:

Your 12 V battery won't have the thick cables I use for my 1 kW inverter. Be very careful to connect the positive to the battery terminal under the red plastic cover positive:

Double check the polarity and then connect the negative to the vehicle frame. Your charger will be recharging the auxiliary battery.

It is alway very important to make sure the right polarity is used to jump charge a Prius, especially if using another vehicle. If the polarity is reversed, it can destroy the control computers and this is extremely expensive. So don't be in a rush, check and double-check and there won't be a problem.

It doesn't take a lot of power to start the Prius. So there is no need to race the charging vehicle engine. Once the Prius starts, disconnect the grounds and then the B+.
