Hello everyone. I am a new owner of an 05 Salsa Red Prius. It has option package #4. I purchased the car last Saturday. I was lucky enough to find a dealer that had one on the lot that day. They told me that it was the first one that they had which wasn't sold before it was delivered.

So far I really love the car. I was amazingly surprised with the overall ride and handling of the it. My initial thought was that it was going to ride like a tin can on wheels. I must say that rides more like a luxury vehicle. There was also some doubt about the visibility. I have driven full sized pickup trucks for some time now. This is the only car that I have driven in a long time that I felt comfortable in. The Prius just seems to fit like a glove.

This sight is a wonderful tool, filled with sooo much great information. I was on here tonight looking for something on lower gas mileage numbers than posted on the sticker. After looking around it is now apparent that it will come with time. That gave me much comfort that I had made a good purchase Thanks to all of you that provide input!

    Welcome!

I also made the transition from a 2000 GMC Sierra 4x4 to my 2004 Prius. I'll never look back.

Actually, with winter tires on my Prius, it's *far* safer to drive in winter than my Sierra ever was. I don't have to tow anything anymore, so why have a pickup hanging around getting 12 MPG?

I have seen a Salsa Red in the showroom recently and am starting to get jealous. Very nice color ...

    Hello and Congrats!

Enjoy your new car and the pride that you will continue to feel every time you slip behind the wheel and push the power button.

It is also nice to know that you have purchased one of the safest vehicles currently on the road. The more you drive these cars the more you will find to love about them.

Just as an FYI you might want to investigate seatcovers and if you do be sure to check out GTCovers as they make some great looking seatcover sets that will accomodate the seat mounted side curtain air bags. Be sure that if you do decide to install seatcovers they are built with the supplemental restraint system taken into account.

You might also want to start a vehicle diary just for fun so that you can see in clear, no nonsense numbers exactally what you are spending, what you are saving and how far you are going on you fuel. As the car will only show you mileage for the current tank of gas and will not give you a cumulative total this info can be handy to have.

Salsa is a truly striking color and looks great on these cars, classy not trashy. If they would have had the dark interior available that would have been my choice as well.

Again, congrats on your wise and considerate purchase. It is nice to see people who are doing something nice for themselves that is also nice for others. I also agree that this car rides like a luxury car, and have heard that in Japan it was voted as the top luxury car on the market. Another kudo that is richly deserved.

    Take care,

    Tisza

Welcome! Glad you like the Prius. It is a great car in my opinion. Has so much high tech in it and for the price, what a bargain! As you have seen so far, this is a great site with lots of friendly people. I have enjoyed the time I have spent here and hope you do too. :)

As you can see, we even have our own highly qualified tech's here to help us sort out the wheat from the chaff. Some of us are experts, wanna be experts, bss'er, know-it-alls, all genders, races and creeds ( political and otherwise) but IMHO we all get along extremely well. Too bad the rest of the world can't follow our example. If the UN fails we are here ready to fill the void!

And I take your existing 12 points and double it to 24.

Six points for the welcome and six more for getting the best color AND best option package for the money . . . in my highly prejudicial opinion.

(Great minds think alike! . . . we all bought Prii  )

    Welcome!
