im Rob from Chesterfield VA. I am in the process of choosing a Prius that is in my price range. I was actually test driving a mini van and the digital readout showed me that I was averaging 14.6 miles to the gallon. I brought it back and saw the Prius. Took a ride and enjoyed it. The price is fair but the miles are high at 82,000. I am continuing my search and checking out prospects. This forum has been a great help. You all seem to enjoy your rides and your MPG. I look forward to joing the ranks soon.

Welcome to PriusChat and best wishes as you continue to research the right car for you. Check out Toyota Certified Pre-Owned online, apply all the common precautions, and perform due diligence. A recent "Carfax" thread (I can't find it) complained that the car had very minor damage not reported by Carfax.

Hello rob!! I wish you will find the best of car you want. Toyota prius is the best family car you can say and is reliable too. I am personally interested in Japanese used Toyota cars and I usually Toyota models whenever I have a choice.

To be fair to the mini-van, it probably didn't have very many miles on that tank and would have read much higher if it had. This is especially true for dealership vehicles where they have very few miles on a new tank of gas and the prospective buyers generally don't drive with efficiency in mind. I've seen reports of Prii at dealers with average MPG numbers in the 20s so people shy away from them as if they were broken. Since you're searching for a new car I just thought the info might be helpful. Good luck in your search.

    Welcome to PC. :)

I have been shopping and haggling for about two weeks. I made a fair offer on a pre owned yesterday. I'll know something tomorrow.
All the dealerships have been raising prices every few days. Good economics lesson of supply and demand and prices of goods. Dealers seem to think they are selling oxygen rights or something. Very cocky. It has been alot of fun though, especially when I unleash the youngins.
