So I am picking out my new Gen III. I want Winter Gray and the only one at the dealer seems to have a very small defect.

On the headup display, where the welcome Prius signage comes up when you start the car, there is a small dimple in the LCD above the "I" is Prius. Therefore the LCD is not perfectly flat and there is a small crimp at the top.

Anyone else have this? Small problem I know, but this will be our first new care ever.

    Thanks

There is no "HUD or Head's Up Display on the US versions of the 2010 Prius. This will be available in Europe and Asia.

If you are referring to the Information screen where the Hybrid Status is displayed, then this is called the MID (Multi Information Display). If there is a dimple in it, it is most likely from someone being rough with it during a test drive.

Thanks for the correction, the MID then. I doubt it is from a test drive. The display cannot be touched due to the plastic screen protecting all of the front display.

It is a small assembly anomaly, but I wanted to see if it was common problem.

I was not quite certain where the anomaly was, meaning on the plastic screen in front of it, or the surface itself.

I have not yet heard anyone complain about this on these boards, and have personally sat in or driven 5 different Prius 3rd Gens, and none of them have had this, so I would not assume that it is a very common one.

From what you describe, with it having a small 'crimp' at the top, it would seem as though this one was not assembled properly?

I'd make them fix it or find another one.

Does this "small crimp" affect the display in any way? It's difficult to understand exactly what you are describing, but if you could get a photo we could at least compare.

Sorry for any confusion. I have drawn a simple schematic. Basically the gray area is not quite on the same plane ie flat with the rest of the screen. I do think it is a small assembly error. I wouldn't normally care, nor it it a glaring fault, but for some reason, I am a little miffed. I have waited quite a while like most on the forum. When I go to finalize the deal, if it still bothers me I will pick my second choice of color and perhaps one that my wife may like better.

We had a GII 2004 Prius and I remember that the steering column pointed not at your nose while in the drives seat, but somewhere between the nose and left cheek.

Sorry to be nit-picky, I guess I have read too many Iphone forums posts. Iphone early adopters are super picky.

We also have the HUD standard on all models in Australia.
