I have to share the awesome results of having my headlights restored at Sam's Club. For $39.99 and a 5 year warranty I figured why not give it a shot. I am amazed. This pic is the before pic
I believe both. I didn't ask the specifics on how they did it. The sheet says it's a "patented" method. I do know that they have a UV sealant, and to me that makes it better than DIY. I was told not to power wash the headlights for a week to let the sealant cure. Although the actual sheet that came with that said I only had to wait 24 hours. I will wait the full week just to be safe.
How much are the kits if you buy, about $20? Not a bad price, going the full-service route. Only downside, I'm thinking it's a one or two year fix?
I wonder what the 5 year warranty states. My bet is it is very specific and hard to claim. I just redid my headlights on our 2010 Prius II this morning. Tried the Wipe New kit instead of the Turtle Wax one that I did about a year ago: Kit was $10 and took 10 minutes to do. Not too bad every so often.
Basically If it hazes up again in 5 years, they'll do it again for free. I have tried the DIY kit for $25 and the results from Sam's beats the DIY by a mile. It literally looks like they installed brand new headlights in. I think the kicker on this is the sealant as far as durability goes.
You can always do a 3M clear coat spray for more lasting results . Sounds like your happy with the service .
I bought this polishing kit maybe 6 or 7 years ago for $220: And some Meguiar's mirror glaze compound: All I do (and I am far from expert) is spend 30 seconds wiping down headlight with windex / paper towel.....apply a dime-sized drop of the compound....Put polisher on a high speed and buff it for about 20 seconds...Comes out like that. Also --- you can use the polisher to wax your car...get rid of scratches....etc...so it pays for itself.. The polisher is no joke...You can go slow on slowest setting but if you put on highest setting your paint will get hot if polishing same spot for more than 5-10 seconds....Matter of fact back when I did this more often on cars I was flipping I stripped the paint right off (just little strips and specks) a few times!!! In order to get a light scratch to disappear or a medium scratch to really fade you have to spend some time on the scratch....And apply some pressure....So you risk stripping some paint away if you don't know what you are doing...And like I said I'm not exactly the best at it!! But it's a great tool to have.
