Head gasket repair.. what else should i do while its out

    Friends,
    Im going to work with a mechanic to replace the hg. Looking for your recommendations on what else I should do while its out. 2010 165,000 miles.

    On the list
    Egr cleaning
    Intake manifold cleaning

    should i change the water pump?

    already done 1.5 yrs ago
    pcv - replaced at 135,000
    Spark plus - same time as pcv

    Water pump is good idea in my opinion, thermostat while your there. Some people
    Say don’t fix what ain’t broke, but when the water pump goes it could be game over very quickly before you realize what happened.

    Definitely replace the Spark plugs. The coolant ingestion will foul the spark plugs.

    Otherwise, water pump and thermostat.
