Hatch will not open when cold

    My problem is the hatch lock will not release if temp is 40 degrees or below. Above that figure it works perfectly. What gives??

    makes no sense. you probably have to dismantle it and examine all the parts.

    Could be something wrong, but note that the lift struts that help lift the gate can be less effective in cold weather. This makes the hatch feel quite a bit heavier, and may give the impression that its stuck but may just need a bit more heft.

    I use WD-40 on all the rubber seals. Keeps the ice from bonding to the rubber quite so much.
